Default Lebanon favored at Class 1A Metro-East Lutheran Regional

    Default No Surprise

No surprise on Lebanon. A lot of talent even with a four-year starter out for season. Only obstacle for them is themselves. If they keep it together mentally they will be back at Peoria for the 4th time in 5 years.

If they make it to Peoria this year it would be the 4th time in 6 years, they did not go last year or in 08-09.

I think the coaches concern about the mental state of the players is a valid concern. If I am correct this teams has 6 starters from the second place team 2 years ago. They had 7 of those starters back on last years team and never seemed to get on track. While this years team has shown much improvement over a year ago I still think the question is do they have the leadership to do well in the post season. Virtually every state champion finds themselves in a tough spot at one time or another in the post season and being able to overcome that adversity is usually the difference between a title and a high seed being sent home early. That being said I would love to see Hank bring home the big trophy. They have made quite a few appearances under him and it would be nice to see them win it all.

    Default Lebanon wins 10-5

    A streaky game.

Lebanon scored single runs in each of the first 3 frames to lead 3-0. Dupo bounces back with 5 in the 4th to take a 5-3 lead. Lebanon puts up 5 in the 5th to lead 8-5, then add 2 insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th. 10-5 final. Congrats to Coach Feldt and his girls.

Washington is no longer on the team. Basically she quit because she refused to accept a one game disciplinary action for missing practice. Talk about stupidity. While their backup is decent I would be surprised to see them advance out of the sectional. Probably better that they face Calhoun than the better hitting Carrolton team but I'm not sure they can beat either without Washington pitching.

Lebanon comes back to beat Dupo in regional title game; from the Belleville News-Democrat:

Lebanon will be going with their Junior pitcher Cummings. Washington quit the team.

It's funny how the parent(who I think is still a teacher) thinks it's obviously OK for the kid to participate in "senior skip day" and then skip practice(. I would be willing to bet that the rules and consequences are spelled out very clearly in the athletic handbook which I am sure she signed. Hats of to Feldt for standing up for what is right and not bowing down to some overbearing parents. I bet MoBap wasn't aware that they signed 3 when they signed Washington, the player and the parents. Bet the first time she doesn't get her way at MoBap she will be threatening to turn her uniform in and mommy and daddy will be there all the way. From the sound of the mother it would not surprise me if the district doesn't get sued. The mother is a real class act for calling out her daughters team members in the paper. The BND should be embarrased for giving this clown the podium.

Just another sign of the decline in committment of today's players and parents. Most coaches I talk with have the same type of situations to deal with. It is always the coaches fault. Ver sad.

Generation of entitlements seen in many levels from athletics to academics across the nation; cowering down to overbearing parents/ helicopter parents is sad. Kudos to the coach for sticking with his beliefs.

Really a shame. I know a few coaches who have endured some crazy parents......and I'm sure many more that stay under the radar.
