    Default Rule Clarification

So tonight's Morrisonville vs. Lutheran (Springfield) game I witnessed an unusual call that had coach Montgomery fuming. Runner on first attempts to steal 2nd base batter swings and is called out for batters interference. The umpire stated that the batter stepped out of the box when he swung. He did not make contact with the catcher or the ball. Is that the correct call? A few people were saying it was and some said it wasn't.

Contact does not have to be made with the catcher for an interference call. If the umpire deemed interference whether in or out of the box, it is interference.

Yep. If batter altered the catchers "routine" attempt, then interference. Not called enough in my opinion.

Thank you for the clarification. Now my second question is that does having only two umpires hurt the game? I know for most small schools they can only find two per contest but does it ever effect the game in a negative way when there is only two of them?
