    Default Greenville Sectional

    Carrollton Regional

    1. Carrollton
    3. Nokomis
    6. Greenfield
    7. North Greene
    8. Pleasant Hill
    10. Brussels

    Marissa Regional

    2. Bunker Hill
    3. Metro East Lutheran
    5. Marissa
    6. Okawville
    8. Mulberry Grove

    Valmeyer Regional

    1. Valmeyer
    4. Mt. Olive
    7. New Athens
    9. Lebanon
    10. Madison

    Morrisonville Regional

    2. Calhoun
    4. Morrisonville
    5. Pawnee
    9. Edinburg
    11. Ramsey

The two big favorites are Carrollton and Valmeyer if they play near their potential or maybe a little less. Believe or not though, the way Carrollton has played in the last 2-3 weeks they could lose in the semifinals as they proved against Springfield Calvary/Lutheran and have also gone down big early or blow big leads. Fortunately for them they might be heading out of their slump, which is bad news for everyone else.

This is the year where someone other than Okawville probably might make it out of this sectional and that team may be Valmeyer who has three hitters batting over 400. and have a pitcher with an ERA under 1.00. Like Carrollotn, most of their roster is junior laden and will be a force next season. However, someone like Calhoun could upend Valmeyer as the Warriors have the means to do so with Easton Clark and a good enough lineup to cause havoc.

I can Bunker Hill, Okawville and Nokomis cause trouble too.

Keep an eye on Morrisonville as well. Adam deal is a junior pitcher for the mohawks. He's posting a 2.00 ERA with 96 strikeouts. They also have Josh Bormida who throws decently hard and also threw a no hitter against Pawnee this year. Their lineup, at times, can be deadly. If they play up to what I've seen at times, they can make it out of the regional and make it tough on valmeyer.

Carrollton defeats Pleasant Hill 21-1 in 4 innings.

Not a bad result beating a team that beat up on North Greene 14-1 on Monday. The Hawks have been struggling lately with their pitching and hitting, but they may be putting it together again just at the right time.

They'll play the winner of Greenfield and Nokomis in Carrollton at 2pm on Saturday.

    Bunker Hill tops Okawville 12-1.

Nice result by the Minutemen and ends Okawville's run of two straight state championship appearances.

They await the winner of Metro East Lutheran and Marissa.

A missed potential double play turns into another Pawnee run. They lead Morrisonville 4-0 in the third.

    @breezesports

David Pope singles and comes around to score on a shot to left by Alex Tischkau.
Mohawks trim the Pawnee lead to 4-1

Another Indian error scores Evan Hopper to cut the deficit to 4-2

Reese Snyder scores from second on a single to center by Adam Deal to cut Pawnee's lead to 4-3 in the 5th

Sounds we have a good one on our hands in Morrisonville and potentially an upset by Pawnee.

I was not at the game but from what I've heard it was interesting. To a Mohawk pitcher having back to back balk calls to score runs, Pawnee spectators being escorted off the premise by the police, and by the tying run getting gunned down at the plate...heck of a night

Could Pawnee give Valmeyer a run for their money?

That was with 1 out in the 7th inning as well. Apparently an outfielder for the MoHawks made a couple spectacular catches too.

What an opportunity for a team to make the state tournament this year. The Super Sectional in Springfield is the weakest I have ever seen it. Now, keep in mind, it has probably been the best super sectional for the last 10 years. This super is up for grabs by whoever gets hot.

Of all the years of watching this area, there have been some great teams that have been knocked out (Pawnee, Routt, Carrollton) early by another great team. I'd venture to say that those teams would be licking their chops to be involved this year.

On the other hand, it makes it fun. It's wide open. A team that you never thought would get there could be the one representing.....
