IIRC, those from Athens thought that last year was what they considered to be "the year" they had been building toward.

I saw on the 1450 preview that they were bringing back 6 starters on offense and 5 on defense.

The loss of their three year starter at QB and their best overall player (Maxwell?) at RB/LB would have seemed to take a toll.

But, IMO, this just goes to show how good of program that the Athens coaching staff and players have built up over the last few years.
Agree, Athens coaching staff has built that program from the ground up. They're solid every single year and are able to compete with the big boys in the conference.

4 coaches for Athens are part of the Jim Unruh Carthage tree. 3 were players one as an assistant. Athens is a top notch program

I'd guess Auburn's front 6 or 7 on D and offensive line are the weakest they've had in a long time. Doesn't fair well vs. Athens.

That's true, I just don't think losing Maxwell or Hanner has really come back to bite them. Laird, Davis, Reif and Malitoris in the backfield has been a lethal combo for them in the running game. I'd argue that their passing game probably isn't nearly as good as it was last year, but they haven't really needed to throw so far, so it's kind of a moot point I suppose.

    1. 4-0 Sterling Newman vs. #4 4-0 Rockridge

    2. 4-0 West Hancock at 2-2 Quincy (Notre D)

    Any insight on these games?
I'm speculating Quincy and Newman win.

If RR plays to thier ability i think they can keep it close. Hoping RR can keep it within 2 scores. Newman so fast and they dont make many mistakes.

RR has 7-8 guys that go both ways. Heat may take its toll.

Is it still scheduled for around noon?
Any tips on breakfast spots in the area?

Newman wins against Rockridge in my opinion. I will still be shocked when anyone puts up points against the Newman defense. Rockridge is a fast offense (rather than a pounding offense) and that might not work against Newman. This will be their first live look at Fetterer which may help RR but again, his speed will be matched by the defense. I will say 30-8 Newman.

Give me Hancock by 3 or 4 scores in the other game.
My SIG was taken because I doubted dcaudle
