T-Town defeated Charleston by 3 (I think)
Edwardsville boys defeated Effingham 52-51. Great game. Effingham really hung tough and with a little luck could have pulled off a major upset.

It was suggested I go over to the Holiday Tournament thread, and there were updates there. We left after our boys consolation game. Glad to be able to tell you all of the team, family members, and members of the media made it home safely. 190 miles of blowing snow, some ice, nasty roads.
Not sure I like this pool play thing. There were entire teams we did not see play. The good thing was playing teams we were entirely unfamiliar with. Something I will have to get used to if we go back next year.

Another era over.... Many memorable memories of following the Hill Toppers of Mt. P there for several years. Yes, I know that makes me old........

Wow. That stinks for the schools who are under contract for next year. I can't imagine it's easy to find a Christmas Tournament to play in for next year. Most fields are already set...
On a separate note, how do the two tournaments LOSE so much money? $8500? I can understand having a down year every once in a while, but that seems pretty steep to me... |

The tournament will take place this coming year, giving all the teams a year and a half to find a new tournament. I am sure that another school in the area will pick up a lot of the teams and start their own tournament.

I would surmise there will be a tournament after next year, if they want one. My opinion only but they are just paying back for the vote down of the sales tax increase in exchange for property tax relief. They were also trying to cut boys and girls swimming but that got tabled. Maybe they need to find a manager that knows how to make a profit??? If they really want to save some cash why don't they just cut football. Do that and see the bombs fall. haha. The little bit here and little bit there they are projecting won't make a dent.
We all need to get after our state representatives. They won't do anything about this financial mess because it's coming up on election year. Don't they realize there is a good chance they won't get elected anyway for getting us into this mess? Vote them all out and let us try to start over!
