Default Class A State Championship - Maroa-Forsyth 59 North Lawndale 56 (Photos)

Maroa-Forsyth 59 North Lawndale 56 - SLIDESHOW

Maroa-Forsyth: Robert "Robo" Kreps - 27 pts, 10 rebounds, six - 3's (ties state title game record), Ben Cochran - 15 pts, Dustin Moore - 6 pts, CJ McClellan - 6 pts, Matt Guymon - 5 pts
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
North Lawndale: Glenn Wallace - 15 pts, DeAntwan Jackson - 13 pts, Isiah Evans - 12 pts & 9 rebounds, Cordarell Smith - 8 pts, Brad Birton - 4 pts

Check out 50 high-quality IHSS pics - PHOTO ALBUM from this tremendous final IHSA 2-class system Class A championship game.

The contest was highlighted by the outstanding performance of Maroa-Forsyth's senior guard, Robert Kreps, who scored 27 pts, grabbed 10 rebounds, and knocked down six 3's (which tied the state championship game record for 3's made set by Warsaw's Bill Heisler in 1997). Kreps, who signed to play basketball for Jimmy Collins at the University of Illinois-Chicago, had a remarkable game, an incredibly dramatic feat given the fact Robo had an emergency appendectomy just six days prior to leading his team to the state championship win.

Maroa-Forsyth ends their season as Class A State Champions at 33-1, with their only loss coming to Okaw Valley Conference foe, Monticello, who advanced to the Sweet Sixteen at the WIU Macomb Super-Sectional. The Trojans are the first team in 17 years to win both a boys basketball title and boys football title in the same year. Carlyle accomplished the rare feat in 1989.

North Lawndale ends their season as Class A State Runner-Up at 26-10, with six of those losses coming by forfeit for using an ineligible player.

Awesome pictures Mr. Behrens! My favorite thing about them is that you really can see the emotion! The picture of Cochran is a favorite, along with the black and white of Kreps!
