Default #1-ranked Aledo-56, #9-ranked Lewistown-21 (Photos)

Sorry for the delay. Went camping all weekend and had a great time.

Click the link to view all 55 high-quality IHSS photos of this game or use our convenient IHSS Slideshow to scroll through each pic.

The #1-ranked team in 1A, Aledo (7-0), was REALLY pouring it on the #9-ranked Lewistown Indians (5-2) when I left with 8 minutes to go, 56-14 . The final score was 56-21. I saw Aledo perfectly execute a 2-pt conversion halfback motion, fake reverse, Statue of Liberty play, where the motion backed handed off to the WR on a fake reverse, who tossed it back to the QB, who then passed it back to the slot back that was in motion in the endzone after he ran a little wheel route. Amazing play.

Aledo's passing game is awesome, much like Tuscola's, only out of a pro-style set. The Green Dragons are EXTREMELY balanced and can beat you through the air or on the ground. Aledo's team speed is tremendous for a 1A school and their two backs, Dennis Clark and Justin Allen run with power AND speed. The Hines(QB)to Blaser(WR) passing combo was on fire for two perfectly thrown long TD's. The Green Dragons are a deserving #1-ranked team. In my opinion, Aledo would beat Mt. Olive, Calhoun, or Nokomis by at least two touchdowns, but it's football, and we all know the "on any given day" cliché.

Sr. QB Adam Hines was dropping dimes all over the field. Hines is a VERY accurate
passer who throws a crisp ball. Hines threw for 270 yards and 3 TD's in the win

Hines favorite target was #1 Sr. SE Darin Blaser. Here Blaser scores on a 51-yard reception...

#40 Sr. Brandt Schisler goes horizontal to stop #45 Zach Frick...

Lewistown runs the spread offense and #10 Jr. QB Cory Bishop was under
pressure by the Dragons defense all game long...

Aledo head coach Cullen Welter...

Lewistown head coach Darren Winkler...

#45 Sr. Zach Frick rushes for Aledo's last TD from 49-yards out....

#22 Jr. RB Dennis Clark scores from 61-yard pass from Adam Hines,
one of his two TD's for the Dragons.

Clark follows it up with this extra-extra-effort rushing TD gem later...

#42 Sr. RB Justin Allen is a powerful runner who scored twice,
dragging tacklers along the way inside the red zone...

#42 Sr. TE Kane Thompson had an impressive game for the Dragons...

Lewistown's #24 Sr. WR Knute Miller beats Clark for a 66-yard TD reception...

#80 Sr. WR Scott Schaeffer took a kickoff 95-yards to the house for the Indians other score...

If you didn't catch these in the "Moon" thread in the lounge, it was a beautiful crisp fall
night on my trip up to Lewistown. The harvest imagery was stunning...

The Blaser kid is pretty darn good... him and Robert Kreps might be the best 2 receivers in 1a/2a football. Aledo also has two pretty darn good backs to go with a smaller, but strong and quick line. We scrimmaged Aledo at U of I camp, they are my pick to win 1a. A very classy, well coached team.

I agree. Hard to imagine two more athletic small school receivers who have better quickness. It also helps that Blaser and Kreps run crisp routes and do a nice job blocking downfield on running plays too.

Justin Allen and Dennis Clark are a tremendous "Thunder and Lightning" rushing 1-2 punch for the Green Dragons. Of course, against #9-ranked Lewistown, Aledo's Zach Frick and Kane Thompson scored three TD's between them as well, so keying on one back against Aledo is obviously not the answer.
