Mike Tisdale* (7-0 Sr. C),
Riverton: A legit 7-footer who is long and
athletic; dominated games in Central Illinois by averaging 28.6 points,
13.9 rebounds, 5.6 blocks; 62.3 percent on FGs, 79.5
percent on FTs; has come back after missing seven games with
a fractured finger; signed with Illinois. Tisdale has seven triple-doubles in 20 games
this season. Currently has 1591 points, 735 rebounds, and
384 blocks in his career. Tisdale is 69-7 (90% winning percentage) when he
is in the Riverton lineup. The Hawks have compiled a
24-3 record thus far and have won a regional championship for three
consecutive seasons. Tisdale is as skilled a seven-footer as the
state has seen in Class A in a long time.
Eric Hobbie (6-7 Sr. F), Vandalia:
Hobbie is an extremely athletic and explosive
player who averages 23.1 points, 12.8 rebounds, 5 blocks, 4 steals;
58.4 percent on FGs, 41.9 percent on 3s, 75.8 percent on FTs; more
than 2,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds; interest from
SIU-Carbondale and McKendree College; has over 50 dunks on the
season; won the King of the Hill Slam Dunk title last
year at Carver Arena. The Vandals are currently 25-4 and have
won three regional championships in the last four
years with Hobbie in the lineup.
Robert
Kreps* (6-0 Sr. G), Maroa-Forsyth: "Robo", as
his fans like to call him, averages 25.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.2
assists and 2.7 steals; 49.4 percent on FGs, 44 percent on 3s and
81.6 percent on FTs; the school's career scoring leader; signed
early with Illinois-Chicago; scored 37 pts and was named the IHSS
Player of the Game in the Trojan's win over state-ranked
Seneca at the highly-touted Riverton Shootout. Kreps led the
Trojans to a 3rd place finish in Class A last year as a junior
and has increased his production during his senior
farewell season. One of the state's purest shooters (regardless of
Class) who can create and knock down his shot from any
range. The Trojans have compiled a 27-1 record and are
rated #3 in the state in our IHSS Top 16 Final
Poll.
Carlton Fay* (6-8 Sr. F/C),
Putnam County: A dominating Class A player who averages
24.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 blocks; 62.1 percent
on FGs, 70 percent on FTs; over 2,000 career points and 1,000
rebounds; signed with Southern Illinois-Carbondale. Fay is highly-regarded
for his ability to take over a game and will his team to
a win. Exploded onto the national scene after impressive
performances against some of the best players in the nation at
premier AAU summer events. At 6'8" and a reported solid
240lbs, Fay is physical speciman who can battle inside or
outside with efficiency. In the last three years, Putnam County
is 77-16 (79% winning percentage) with Fay in the lineup and have
won regional championships for 3 consecutive seasons.
Lucas O'Rear** (6-6 Sr. F/C),
Nashville: One of the
most dominating Class A players in recent history averages 18.8
points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists,
4 blocks; 74.5 percent on FGs; has over 2,000
career points and 1,000 rebounds; signed with Northern Iowa, but could
be drafted by a major league baseball team. Nashville is curently
30-0 and rated #1 in the IHSS Top 16 Final
Poll.

Jason Runde (6-2 Sr. G),
Teutopolis: Averages 18 points, 5 rebounds;
55 percent on FGs, 38 3s; will play baseball for Ron Riggle at
Lincoln Land Community College. Ultra-strong for the guard position,
Runde has an exceptional perimeter shot and can also finish strong
among bigger players in the paint. Best player on a 27-2 Wooden
Shoes team who want to send retiring legendary coach, Ken Crawford, out
in style with a state championship. T-Town is currently ranked 5th
in IHSS' Top 16 Final Poll.
Brandon
Dunson (6-3 Sr. G), Bloomington Central Catholic:
Averages 13.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists; incredibly athletic
player with a 44-inch vertical leap; team’s best defender; signed
with D-1 Tennessee-Chattanooga. Best player on a 25-3 Saints team
who is complemented by sharp-shooting super-soph Tom
Norton.
Travis Rosenkranz (5-10 Sr. G),
Macon Meridian: Averages 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds,
5.6 assists and 4.7 steals; 57 percent on FGs, 42 percent on 3s, 84
percent on FTs; over 1,800 career points; top six in state history
in career steals and assists, according to IHSA; An intelligent
player who is ultra-quick and can create mis-matches off the dribble;
streaky shooter who can go off for 30+ points on any given night;
garnering D-1 interest. Aspires to enroll in college pre-med and
become a doctor.
Griffan Callahan (6-4
Sr. F), Seneca: Averages 16.5 points, 8.9 rebounds,
2.5 steals, 3 assists; 52 percent on FGs, 85 percent on FTs, 34
percent on 3s; drawing looks from Montana State, Niagra,
and South Dakota State. The Fighting Irish ran off 65 straight wins
over the last three seasons before being defeated by Herscher at the
I-8 conference tournament this season. Currently Seneca is 27-2
after finishing 35-0 as undefeated Class A state champions a year
ago.
Josh Watznauer (6-7 Sr. F/C),
Farmington: Josh averages a
double-double on a 26-1 team which is
currently ranked 5th in our IHSS Top 16 Final Poll; Averages 14
points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists; 1.9 blocks; 55 percent on FGs;
has D-1 interest. Watznauer makes up half of the
talented duo in the post for the Farmers, along
with 6'4" all-state forward/center Matt Goedeke.

He shot 77.6% from the FT line, had 32 steals, 31 assists and 21
blocked shots. Anthony was a unanamous 1st team all-conference
selection in both the Tomahawk and Sangamo conferences in both his
Jr and Sr year. He was chosen to the all-tournament teams at both
Athens and A-C Central. He ended up with 1187 pts in his career
ranking him 3rd all-time in school history behind Brad Bergman(2)
and Evan Arnold(1) and right ahead of Dave McGinnis. Illini Central finished 17-12 this year. |

2007 IHSS Coach of the Year Darin
Lee: Nashville Coach Lee has
done a tremendous job during his tenure as the head coach at Nashville. The improvement he has made
with his team from last year to this year is remarkable. Lee
returned many of the same players from last year’s team and there has been
marked improvement to help this team be undefeated this late in the
season. The Hornets are currently 30-0 and are ranked #1 in
the IHSS Top 16 Final Poll. Nashville won the Lebanon Thanksgiving
Tournament, Breese Mater Dei Holiday Tournament, and Nashville
Invitational Tournament. They also have wins over state-ranked Pinckneyville,
North Lawndale, Teutopolis as well as Vienna. This has been an
outstanding season no matter what Nashville accomplishes the rest of
the season.
