Friday, March 9, 2007, one of our more dedicated members, Steve Rheinecker
(panther fan), was taken from us in the middle of the night. A man who
devoted his life to God, family, and Pinckneyville basketball, Steve will
be missed by all at IllinoisHighSchoolSports.com.
We send our warmest regards and deepest sympathies to his wife,
Claudia, and daughter, Sara. Please keep them, the rest of his family,
friends, co-workers, and the any other of Steve's loved ones in your
thoughts and prayers.
Steve liked to razz the Nashville
Hornets fans by wearing a t-shirt of the opposition. It's these antics
that caused many to laugh and made memories that will last forever.
Rest in peace, Steve.
One of our wiser posters, Fan of the Game, might have put it best
when he said, "I am reminded of the story of Job when he asked God why
He allows innocent people to suffer. God replies with a long set of
questions about creation, part of which follows:
'Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of
the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the
measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line
upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid
the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and
all the sons of God shouted for joy?'
"God's answer
indicates that man cannot understand the reasons because man in his
incarnation is finite, and God is infinite. But as creation is the
ordering of chaos and as creation is so vast and yet so intricate
and so divine, man cannot understand it on a human scale and must
place faith in the Architect who designed creation to do what is
right.
"And so it is with Steve's death. We must trust in the
God of creation that He has done what is right. God's rest, Steve."
Steve Rheinecker was 34.
We encourage any and all posters to share their
thoughts and memories of such a wonderful man and servant of high
school sports. Those who wish to share a few words, or merely read
about the effect that Steve had on a myriad of lives may do so
here.
