the Red Storm of Alexis (United) last Saturday.

with his high quality class 1A action photos. Look for more
shots of Aledo in action after week two.
St. Joe-Ogden 49, Riverton 14
The Spartans of St. Joe-Ogden
dismantled playoff upstart Riverton in round one by five
touchdowns.
According to IHSS
photo guru
Greg Behrens the Spartans looked very impressive but will have
their hands full in a titanic tilt next week as they face former
independent rival Unity of Tolono. Both teams were
rated in the top 5 in Class 3A by IHSS voters in the final poll of
the season with Unity ranked #3 and SJO ranked #5.
Marquette 7,
DuQuoin 6
In a game dominated by defense and the
DuQuoin Indians, the Explorers of Marquette
Catholic came out as the winners. Marquette won
thanks to a key extra point block by senior Chris Hill, which
was the difference in the game. The Indians racked up 177
yards in total offense compared to 49 by Marquette. The
Explorers got their score on a 78 yard kick-off return by Roger
Glasper. IHSS Photographer
Mike Robertson took these snaps and is reporting from the 7A
match-up this week between East St. Louis and Edwardsville.
Bishop McNamara 14, Althoff 7
The Fighting Irish of Bishop Mac used 270 yards on the
ground by tailback Dominique Green to defeated metro east 5A
power Althoff by a touchdown last Saturday. Mac held
Althoff all-stater Jason Ford to 100 yards on 17 carries and
barely held on, intercepting Patrick Young in the endzone as
time expired to preserve the victory.
Bishop Mac now faces #1 Sacred Heart-Griffin in a rematch of
last season's 5A quarterfinal game won by SHG 34-28.
