Stanford - Two
highly regarded all-state players in Maroa-Forsyth's
Robert Kreps and Eureka's Jordan Prosser squared off in an epic
sectional championship battle at Olympia High School, but two of
their unheralded teammates stole the show. Maroa's
Ben Cochran poured in a career-high 26 points to offset a
23-point outburst by Eureka's
Dean Eastman, as the Trojans held off the Hornets
for their second consecutive sectional championship. Kreps, an
IHSS first team all-stater who was bothered by severe flu symptoms
all week, was held somewhat in check by a physical box-and-1 defense
by Crue
Harmon of Eureka. Even though he was keyed on and hounded all
game by Harmon, "Robo" still managed 13 pts, 8 assists, 5 steals,
and 6 rebounds.

Previous News: #5 NASHVILLE STINGS #4
PINCKNEYVILLE, 48-41
Unable to
contain the inside scoring threat that is Lucas O’Rear by trying to guard
him one-on-one, the Panthers found themselves losing ground quickly to the
Hornets late in the fourth quarter. A three-pointer by Hayden Hicks
with a little over 42 seconds left in the game ended a long Panther
scoring drought, but it was too little too late as O’Rear finished with 25
points and 12 rebounds in a 48-41 Nashville victory.
