senior center Lucas O'Rear, scores 29 points and grabs 11 rebounds
at the SIU-Carbondale Super-Sectional, slam dunking Mt. Carmel,
76-46. Nashville heads to Peoria with a perfect 33-0
record.

IHSS honorable-mention all-stater, 6-4 Senior
center Matt Goedeke, scored a career-high 31 points
at the WIU-Macomb Super-Sectional, going 11-16 from the field and 9-14 FT's
in Farmington's 77-67 win over Monticello. Farmington heads to State
with a 30-1 record.

IHSS Class
A Player of the Year, 6-6 senior center Lucas O'Rear, scores
29 points and grabs 11 rebounds to lead Nashville to the win,
moving the Hornets to 33-0 and into the the Elite Eight for a
rematch against Teutopolis. The Hornets previously defeated
T-Town at the highly-regarded Riverton Shootout,
57-43.

IHSS 2nd-team all-state
selection, 6-3 senior guard Jason Runde, scored 22 pts to lead
the Wooden Shoes into the Elite Eight for coach Ken Crawford's
final seeason. Crawford is retiring after this year. 6-4
Senior forward Craig Westendorf added 17 points,
burying five 3pt shots, some from deep range. Teutoplis
moves to 30-2 on the season. Central A&M, one of three
Okaw Valley Conference teams to make the Sweet 16,
finishes the season at 19-14.

IHSS 1st-team all-state selection, 6-8 senior
forward Carlton Fay, scored a game-high 15 points, but was
held in check most of the night by Byron, one of Class A's
best defensive teams. Putnam County's David Seibert scores all
12 of his points in the third quarter, as momentun really
swung toward the Panthers and they went on to post a 13-point
win.

AP 2nd-team all-state selection, 6-4 senior forward Josh Babb, scored a game-high 19
points, but had a tough shooting night at 4-13 from the field. Both squads played solid defense as shooters struggled to score,
with Brown County making 14-34 FG, while Breese Central was a cold
13-of-46 from the field.

IHSS 3rd-team all-stater Codarell
Smith led North Lawndale with 17 points to offset
a 28 point outbust by St. Anne's outstanding Jr. point gurad, Cliff Fleiming,
who is an IHSS honorable-mention all-stater. North Lawndale moves to
24-9 on the season (six losses by forfeit for using an ineligble
player) and advances in to the Elite Eight for the second
year in a row.

all-stater, 6-4 Senior center Matt Goedeke, scored a career-high 31

IHSS 2nd-team all-stater Josh Watznauer added a double-double, with
16 points and 10 rebounds for the Farmers. Monticello was led by
Trevor Drake, who scored 20 pts. going 6-12 from 3pt range, with
many of his 3-pointers buried from well beyond 25 feet. Nathan
Swarts added 18 points for the
Sages.

Athletic junior forward Chris Anderson
scored 24 points and Zach Brehm added 12 points in the
victory for the Thunder.
Ben Cochran lead
the Trojans with 26 points going 11-12 from the field
and 2-3 from 3-pt range. Matt Guymon added 10
points. For St. Joe-Ogden, Nick Micheal scored 13, while
Isiah Olson contributed 10. Playing without IHSS 1st-team all
stater Robert Kreps, who under went emergency appendectomy
surgery, Ben Cochran matched his career-high 26 point outburst
from the Trjans sectional final win over Eureka. Maroa-Forsyth
(30-1), who finished third in Class A a year ago makes their
second consecutive trip to State. SJO ends their season at
23-6.

Eureka.
Nashville's Lucas O'Rear blocks the shot of
Pinckneyville's Zach Hawkins. O'Rear led the 32-0 Hornets, IHSS'
#1-ranked team, to a 52-43 win over the
Panthers.
8 teams will move one step closer to a
State Championship after Tuesday.

Herrin - The top two Class A teams in Southern Illinois met for the third time this season at the Herrin Sectional Championship. Nashville entered the contest boasting a 30-0 reccord, while the Pinckneyville Panthers entered the contest with a very salty 26-4 record, including twp prior losses to the Hornets. The game which sold out Herrin High School, pitted the 2007 IHSS Coach of the Year Darin Lee against 2006 IHSS Coach of the Year Dick Corn, along with the Hornet star Lucas O'Rear, who is a member of the 2007 IHSS Class A All-State First Team. Bloomington - Breese (Central) added its first Girls Basketball State Championship when they defeated Rochester 47-41 to claim the top spot in Class A Girls' Basketball. IHSS had two of its finest on hand to catch the action. Chris Kays was in attendence for all four games on Saturday.
