Shawn Poppie
(January 2003)

Shawn Poppie is the inaugural IllinoisHighSchoolSports.com Athlete of the Month. Shawn is a senior guard for the CPCI Timberwolves. He is a three-year starter for arguably one of the most successful programs in the state over the past four years. This season, Poppie is averaging 19.5 points per game, and almost seven assists per contest for the Timberwolves, the 2nd place finishers in the Williamsville Holiday Tournament. Noted one college recruiter about Shawn, "He is the hardest working player in the state of Illinois." Poppie's hard charging, hard nosed, flamboyant attitude makes him either loved or hated. The way Poppie dives on the court for loose balls, makes great passes, and leads his team are qualities that every player should strive to have.
