Nick Hill Bio

Basketball —Currently the #3 all-time scorer in DQ history with 1873 pts entering games this weekend....His 855 points last season were an all-time best.

—He's the career assists, three-point shots made season and career leader at DHS.

—Nick is a 4-year varsity letterman and 3-year starter.....He's averaged 14, 26 and now 22 pts per game after scoring about 3 per game as a frosh in limited action..Frosh year, though, he averaged about 20 ppg on the jayvee squad. DQ's current record with Nick as a varsity player is 86-32 (24-7, 19-11, 21-11 and 22-3)

—Nick averages 22 ppg, 7 assists, 9 rebs and 4 steals per game and has had six triple-doubles in his career (according to my stats).

— Nick has been all SIRR as a soph and jr and All-Southern Illinois as a jr. He was named All-State IBCA first team last year and AP second team. He's been nominated for the McDonalds All-American team this year.

—Nick is the all-time scoring leader in the DQ Tip-Off Classic and has been all-tourney there three straight times. He's also been all-tourney twice at Sparta Mid-Winter Classic and the Carbondale Holiday Tournament.

—Nick signed with Western Ky on a full scholarship with plans to major in education. He eventually wants to coach basketball and football.

In football, Nick's resume is all the more impressive:

—All-State ICA Class 3A quarterback
—All SIRR and All-Southern Illinois as jr and sr.
—In three years as a varsity starter, Du Quoin was 29-6 and made three playoff appearances in 3A and won the SIRR, Miss. each year DQ was in the semis once and was runner-up this year.
—Nick passed for 1,521 yards, 20 TD 's and two INT's while rushing for 550 yards and seven TD's.

As a junior, he passed for 986 yards and 13 TD's while rushing for 462 yards. Starting half the season as a soph, he threw 6 TD's and had over 600 yards passing while rushing for about 150....First three year QB starter for Du Quoin since current coach Al Martin (69-71) and Stanhouse (66-68).....

He also punted for a nearly 40 yard avg. as a junior. Nick spurned football offers from several Big-10 schools to play hoops at WKU.... Nick has lettered in baseball and track also and is an honor student. He's the son of Charles and Debra Hill.

Congratulations to NICK HILL and a special thank you goes out to contributing editor and valued member.....Harry Doyle.
