Dylan Ward's academic and athletic accomplishments fit perfectly into the
IHSS mold of Athlete of the Month. He's intelligent, confident, and has an
opportunity to achieve all-state status in THREE SPORTS! This well rounded
young man stands out among his peers and makes a positive impact on and off
the field.

Kendra Broquard (25) is expecting first born anytime, Mom (Leigh Ann) and
dad (John) are both from the Princeton Ill area. Dylan was born in Peru Ill.
Oct 5, 1985. Mother taught Dental Assisting at Illinois Valley community
college, Dad works in the technical services group with Caterpillar.
Work Experience:
Farm hand for several local farms and coached youth baseball last summer
for the 7th grade team, and youth football this fall and summer.
Favorite teacher:
Mrs. Ann Hoke 6th grade math.
ACT score: 25,
with a 30 in math. Took the exam with out a calculator.
Received the Distinguished
Athlete Award for 2002 2003 school year: Award is given
by the Prairie Central High School athletic director. Also nominated by the
high school principal, Dan Schmitt dschmitt@prairiecentral.org, for the
Wendys High School Heisman award.
Was a
4 year starter in baseball, 3 in Basketball and
Football.
Most memorable moments:
Winning the 8th grade
state baseball championship with the game winning 3 run home run. Pitching
at Satchel Page stadium in Kansas City Mo when he was 15 and kicking a 27-yard
field goal in 7th grade to win the CIFL championship game.
Dylan gives all of the credit
to his three varsity coaches: They have been patient and understanding
with Dylan doing all three sports.
They are Tim McGuire for
Baseball, Allen Dunahee for basketball, and Brian Hassett with Football.
They organize themselves so as many kids that want to play all three sports
during the summer, can. That is the success of Prairie Central Sports.
Future For Dylan
Ward: He
wants to be an Architect; He has been offered Scholarships in all three sports,
D1 baseball and football. Illinois, Iowa, Northern, ISU, Eastern, and many
DIII football schools are recruiting him. SIU, ISU, Bradley, Iowa, and Clemson
are recruiting him for Baseball. Lindenwood recruited him for basketball.

at Prairie Central) All of Dylans statistics this year belong to the
offensive line, and receivers. They are Brian Hildensperger, Curtis Bunch,
Kevin Steidenger, A.J. Diller, Mike Kilgus and the receivers are, Will Barsema,
Nathan Wenger, Dustin Stephens, Danny Meiss, and Flying Sammy White.
1575 yards passing with 16TD passes, and holds a 55% pass completion percentage
in five games and also has 4 rushing TD's.
Dylan is 8 for 12 in extra point attempts, and also has a 85% conversion
ratio (6 of 7) on passing attempts (3 of 3 against Pontiac) for extra points.
Has a 35-yard per punt average
and a 50-yard average on kick-offs.

Year Accomplishments During the 2002-2003 school year:
During that year, the varsity
Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams finished with a combined 69
13 record. Dylan started every game all three sports.
Football: The Prairie Central
Hawks football team won the first ever play-off game in the history of the
consolidation and went 7-4 for the season.

Lead Bloomington, Normal, Champaign, and Pontiac Area in yards passing with
2100 yards. Also threw 21 TD passes, which was second in the area.

field goal percentage over 60%.
Lead the team in scoring 12 times during the season with a 13-ppg avg.

Baseball: In 2003 his team
finished 4th in state and compiled a school best 37-4 won loss record. He
was voted team MVP by his teammates.

1st Team All-Conference Pitcher Cornbelt Conf.
1st Team All-Conference Shortstop Cornbelt Conf.
Played 3rd base in the Jack Kaiser Memorial All-Star Tournament for the White
Sox. As a pitcher, Dylan went 12-1, with an ERA of 1.44, 101 Ks, 78 innings.
Hit .462 with 10 HRs, 40 RBIs, 55 hits, 18 doubles, 2 triples, and an on
base % of .676. He hit .590 during the state tournament run. He holds six
school records.
